BARSHIM AND THIAM NAMED 2017 ATHLETES OF THE YEAR
Qatar's Mutaz Essa Barshim and Nafissatou Thiam of Belgium have been named the male and female World Athletes of the Year at the IAAF Athletics Awards 2017, held at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco on Friday

The IAAF MALE RISING STAR Award went to Karsten Warholm – 400m Hurdles
The IAAF FEMALE RISING STAR Award went to Yulimar Rojas – Triple Jump
The IAAF Coaching Achievement award went to 75-year-old South African Ans Botha, who has coached for 50 years and whose athletes include the current Olympic and world 400m champion Wayde van Niekerk.
The Women in Athletics award went to Cherry Alexander, of UK Athletics, who has been involved in athletics for more than 30 years, and was managing director for the IAAF World Championships London 2017.
This award recognises outstanding achievements and contributions made to develop, encourage and strengthen the participation of women and girls at all levels of the sport.
The award for Athletics Photograph of the Year went to Paul Sanwell for his image of Australia's Sally Pearson in the semi-finals of the 100m hurdles at the IAAF World Championships in London.
